In my childhood,Ifirst participated in a death-related ritual in Kasavakan and afterwards.I continuously dreamt of running through the mountains alongside wild beasts. These dreams coincide with my experiences in adulthood participating in the Mangayaw and the dreams encountered during my family's shamanic rituals.Dream plays an indispensable and significant role in the ritual culture of Kasavakan, In Mangayaw, death symbolizes the exchange and continuation of life. For the sustainable development of the community, we consume the hunted animals.Making them a part of us while we also integrate into their life cycle; we become them, and they become us. The rituals serve as a bridge for communicating with the souls of all living things to commemorate the lives that have passed. After experiencing the influence of colonial history and foreign cultures, the worship and communication with nature in Kasavakan have developed into diverse and mixed forms. By observing the varied paths of these ritual cultures, I found a new foothold for my mixed heritage identity. Using portraits as a medium, I deconstruct and reorganize the appearances and totemic symbols of humans and plants and animals, attempting to create a new worship space that practices a way of life based on animism. With a ritualistic attitude toward life, I face the future of coexistence between Austronesian culture and multiculturalism. Notes: (1) Kasavakan: The name of one of ten Pinuyumayan comunities. (2) Mangayaw: The grand hunting festival of Pinuyumayan (including monkey sacrifice and purification rituals).
